25th November is United Nations Day to End Violence Against Women. It marks the beginning of 16 Days of Action Against Gender Violence. Across the globe people take action to raise awareness of the scale and impact of violence against women and call for action by individuals, communities and governments to support and protect the victims, hold the perpetrators to account, and take preventative action.

This year the contestants in Second Life’s Miss Virtual World Pageant have worked together to establish the SL Say No – Unite to End Violence Against Women campaign to provide a platform for every Second Life resident to show their support and send a clear message that violence against women is never acceptable. You can see the video here.

The Misses are used to being seen as icons of beauty and glamour. In this video they have used makeup to represent the impact that violence has on many millions of women around the world. They know they can take the makeup off, but so many women don’t have that choice. They hope you will stand with them to say NO to violence.

For more information, and to find out how you can support the campaign, check out our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/SLSAYNO
